PermitBox™
AI Agent Settlement

Micropayment rails purpose-built for autonomous AI agents operating at construction jobsites — offline-capable, sub-second, and compliance-native.

What Is PermitBox?

PermitBox is a ruggedized on-premises enclosure that runs AI agents handling construction operations — permit lookups, materials ordering, subcontractor coordination, inspection scheduling, and document management. These agents need to transact autonomously, often in environments with intermittent connectivity.

MicroPay provides the settlement backbone: HTTP 402 payment gates control resource access, USDC on Base L2 handles final settlement, Circle Programmable Wallets give each agent a sovereign payment identity, and a gasless relay via Circle Gas Station Network means agents never need to manage native ETH for gas.

When connectivity drops, the store-and-forward queue preserves transaction integrity and auto-settles on reconnect — maintaining an unbroken audit trail regardless of site conditions.

Settlement Flow

  • Agent executes task requiring paid resource
  • HTTP 402 payment gate challenges the agent
  • Agent issues micropayment request via Circle wallet
  • If offline: transaction enters local store-and-forward queue
  • Base L2 settlement on reconnect — USDC, sub-second
  • Gasless for payer via Circle Gas Station relay

On-Premises First

PermitBox runs locally at the jobsite, preserving data sovereignty and ensuring operations continue even when cloud connectivity is unavailable. Cloud sync is optional — not required.

  • Local-first architecture
  • Data sovereignty preserved
  • Cloud-optional sync

Sub-Second Settlement

USDC on Base L2 delivers sub-second finality with fixed USD-denominated fees. Circle Programmable Wallets give each agent a dedicated payment identity, eliminating shared-wallet contention across concurrent agent operations.

  • USDC on Base L2
  • Fixed USD fee structure
  • Per-agent Circle wallets

Store-and-Forward

Intermittent connectivity is a jobsite reality. MicroPay's store-and-forward queue captures every transaction locally, preserves cryptographic integrity, and automatically settles on Base L2 the moment connectivity is restored.

  • Offline transaction queuing
  • Cryptographic integrity preservation
  • Auto-settle on reconnect
